Dell, Microsoft, SWsoft and Dotster Join Forces

Dell, Microsoft, SWsoft and Dotster have formed an alliance to launch a SiteBuilder for Windows Contest. The contest will be held for college students that are already enrolled for 2006. Six winners of the contest, which will be heavily advertised on MSN.com, FoxSports.com and Facebook.com will receive a Dell Laptop and everyone who enters will receive 6 months of free hosting from Dotster.

The rules of the contest are as follows: “Contestants must register, create an original website using SWsoft’s SiteBuilder solution, submit their website and receive the most public votes inorder to win the contest.”

“As the boom in social networking sites suggests, the Internet is becoming the most widely used and vibrant outlet for teens and college students to creatively express interests and communicate with their peers,” said John Zanni, Director of hosting market development at Microsoft. “Microsoft wants them to be able to realize their full range of creativity by making it easier for users to build their own sites.”

“We’re excited to give students a simple and easy way to explore Web hosting who may feel intimidated by HTML or general website creation knowledge,” said Kurt Daniel, VP of Marketing, SWsoft. “The added benefit to the SiteBuilder contest is that college students will also be introduced to Web hosting through the free six month hosting offer from Dotster, a leading Web hosting company.”
