If you love your car, you’ll now have a chance to share your passion with the rest of the world, via Edmunds.com newly launched CarSpace.com community. This online community offers free hosting for your pictures, and a lot more. Let’s take a look at what this new social community for car lovers has to offer.

This is one beta where everyone can join. All you’ll need to do is fill in some basic information about yourself and you’ll be ready to jump right in to the community.

Once you’ve logged into the community, you’ll be able to participate in groups with other car lovers. These groups range in topics from specific makes and models, or even basic themes of automobiles.

Next, you can take a look at some blogs from Inside Line and from Edmunds.com on your favorite subject.

If newsfeeds are more your style, your start page can be configured to display the news you want to see. Sources range from Inside Line, the BBC, Detroit News and a number of other news outlets. You can also select your feeds by subject, such as Ford Trucks. You can opt to have all of the feeds displayed, or just the ones that you’re interested in.

Next up, we have a photo sharing area where you can upload all of your favorite pictures, store them in your account and view contributions from the rest of the community.

Since this is a community, you can build a friends list with all of your favorite buddies. This area of the site will list all of your friends and allow you to invite new ones.

If you’re looking for friends with like interests, you can browse through the member directory, which is organized by make of car that they own, personal interests and much more. You can even find members in your own state or even your own city.

Earlier, we mentioned that you get a free email address with CarSpace.com when you sign up. When you click on the Mailbox link, you’ll see your inbox where you can email other friends, and see what email you’ve received.

In order for new friends to be able to find you, you’ll need to fill out your profile. There are some basic options, and you can also elaborate on your vehicles, your likes and much more. Here are some of the basic options that CarSpace.com allows you to configure for your profile:

Once you have your profile filled out, you can select the picture that you want to display in your profile and on your page. You can upload a picture of your own, or select one of CarSpace.com’s standard avatars. Here are some examples of their current avatars. Please keep in mind that all pictures will need to conform to CarSpace.com’s member agreement.

It’s nice to see a large company like Edmunds.com sponsoring a community for car lovers. All of the aspects of the site are easy to use and should give people a great and simple way to connect with people who share their interests.
